We've certainly had some strange weather here in Sydney this Summer. So late in coming were the sunny days that I thought they'd never make it. A few days ago the morning was quite crisp after a crazy storm the night before. That was the morning I ran into Tanya. She instantly made me think of my friend Hannah-Rose, who can never really bear to part with her Isabel Marant coat. Clearly these two girls are kindred spirits.

Wishing for fragrance, fragrance, fragrance!

For as long as I can remember my sense of smell has seemed to be particularly acute. I find myself feeling very akin to the character of Grenouille in Patrick Suskind's Perfume.... Minus the sinister desire to acquire a smells by means of murder, of course. Needless to say, fragrances are forever on my wish list. Some friends bought me the most beautifully scented English Pear and Freesia candle from Jo Malone for my birthday, and I'm never without a Glasshouse Manhattan candle in my room. But now there is one more waxy delight I need to add to my fragrant collection (which also extends to perfumes, fabric care, and all sorts of beauty products; but here I'm concentrating all my wishes on candles): Malin + Goetz Dark Rum.

The original is one of my absolute favourite movies, which my brother, sister, and I quote enthusiastically and often. I won't go into every moment I love, but I will definitely put it out there that "The Electric Mayhem" is the greatest band name of all time. Attended the Absolut Mode Edition Launch Party at Jackies (the intersection Paddington) last Thursday. It was so much fun - not that you can really go wrong surrounded by bottomless rose water Absolut cocktails, and fellow bloggers Sara, Hannah, and Emma! Loving the latest Boss Orange campaign. It's going on about 7 years now that I've been a big fan of Lily Donaldson... Since back in the days when you'd always see behind the scenes shots at fashion shows of Lily D, Lily C, and Gemma. You know the days. Such a big fan in fact that on my last visit to NYC I bought this tee (and still can't understand why I was so overcome with the desire to own it, it's really not THAT great let's be honest). Recently though my biggest model crush has been Dree Hemingway. There is something so compelling about her. She seems more accessible than other models I think; as if it would be no trouble to bond with her instantly. But, I dream.... Unsurprisingly, I was thrilled to see that the two girls were both featured in the Boss Orange campaign - charming as ever. Eniko is super cute too, however she has not yet reached the same level of lust-worthiness as Dree and Lily in my eyes. Sorry, Eni.

I had so much fun last night hanging out with my blogger girls at Fashion's Night Out! It was so much busier this year than last year - I guess that's mainly due to the new Westfield. Highlights of the night: Oroton cookies, Calvin Klein male models, being on the escalator in front of Kirrily Johnston (and basically the entire name-droppable crowd at David Jones), and most of all DVF: making my own bag of candy, the pumping vibe, and seeing the amazing Meg Gray somehow make a promo tee look insanely stylish. Before I began this blog I had a blog called "A CRAB YELLS HEY", which is an anagram of my name. My amazing friend Kristian Hell has finally begun designing again! Back in my old life on the Sunshine coast Kristian had an awesome denim label called SSIDELINE. He has been living in Stockholm for the last few years working on his other project Poster Press, but he has just revived his design ambitions.

Got distracted by Zara today... surprise surprise. However, I was very restrained because I walked away with only a single item - this dress. Perfect for Bondi breakfasts, Paddington coffees, and general all-round comfort as the weather warms up!

P.S. It's annoying that my dining table isn't quite wide enough for flat-lays! I always end up with these little edges that aren't white!

One and a half weeks ago (a lifetime in blogging terms!) it was my 25th birthday. I must say that I usually look forward to birthdays, regressing to my 5 year old self, shaking presents and generally bouncing off the walls. This year was different. It suddenly hit me that I am well and truly in my mid-20s and nowhere near where I imagined myself to be at this stage in my life. Not only that, but the age-old female dilemma of career vs family has never really phased me until now. Overnight I seemed to grasp just how difficult it is for women to achieve both these things and still hold on to your health and sanity! Why do our eggs have an expiry date?!

Anyway, those around me must have sensed my angst (or just had their ears bitten off by my complaints over the weeks preceding July 4th) because I was spoiled rotten this year! It definitely took the edge off. After dinner at Aria with my aunty, dumplings with the girls, an amazing blog post dedication from my lovely friend Lisa, Chloe perfume, a Jo Malone candle, Tom Ford lipstick, Guerlain face cream (thanks Carly for responding to my pleas for wrinkle cream, haha!), and a beautiful book of movie set photography, I feel much better about my age crisis. Hey, if I can gain all these amazing things in one day, imagine what can happen over the next ten years!

A final note to anyone who may also be experiencing ageing trauma: Life is what you make it and age is just a number. Please don't let my drama infect you! xx
